About Me

My name is Andrew Phoenix and I was born in the town of Guelph, Ontario in the country of Canada, on December 15, 1979, which means I’ve just gone 30. I am currently working as a freelance web designer and developer for my own company, called Resonant Studios. Our website is ugly because of a chronic case of cobblerskidsshoesitis. I’ve updated our site, and it is now full of moderately less ugliness.

I enjoy photography. I’m trying to get an old Miranda 35mm repaired and am thinking about doing more film photography, though I love my digital camera. I’m using a Canon Digital Rebel XTi, which is a fantastic entry level DSLR. I am always looking for new lenses.

I enjoy sports. I’m steadily improving my skating; two years ago I couldn’t stand up, and now I can stand, skate, almost do a hockey stop. I agree, not so impressive for a good ol’ Canadian Boy like myself, but I’m trying. I’m never going to catch up to my wife; whenever we go skating, she is the best skater on the ice (I’m not just saying that because I’m biased – she was a provincial level figure skater for a long time).

I am married, as you may have guessed. My wife, in addition to being a Speech Language Pathologist, is clearly out of my league. We have a daughter. She’s a typical little girl, best described by adjectives: witty, smart, funny, cute, loving, evil, deceptive, hilarious, curious, energetic, lazy, sweet, huggy, and also evil, which I put in twice on purpose. She never seems particularly evil when you meet her, though, which leads me to add one more word: insidious.

I am passionate about many things, most of which I write about at some time or another: the web and other technology, food, games, design, music, love, art, photography, hockey, soccer, parenting, friends, MTG, World of Warcraft and more. I dislike social networking sites, like the myface, but I love social networking sites, like twitter.
